How Much Is A Wedding Makeup Artist

By | Makeup Artist | No Comments

Getting ready for your big day takes a lot of planning. Many women start checking out reception halls and wedding gowns as soon as the engagement ring goes on their finger. However, your makeup is an equally important part of your big day. If you are wondering how much is a wedding makeup artist and what to expect, let us clear up the considerations that will help you make the right choice.

Experience

This is your wedding day, not the chance for your cousin/neighbor/whoever to experiment with some cool look they saw in a fashion magazine. You deserve to have experienced makeup artists like Shannella Dupuis and our team handle your makeup affairs.

At MBS Makeup, you can see multiple photos on our website and social media accounts to see proof of the excellent services we have provided to many beautiful brides. There are also websites and Yelp reviews that showcase the work we have done for brides in the past. You deserve to have a makeup team that has a proven track record and is recognized as a leader in the industry.

Quality

While experience is great, so is using the correct products. Before hiring any makeup artist, you should inquire about the brands of makeup and application tools used by the staff. If you aren’t sure about some of them, check out the brand names for yourself. Many of the top makeup manufacturers used by professional artists have websites and information for the public to peruse. At MBS Makeup, we are proud to only use the best in the business!

Professionalism

Practically anyone can claim to be a professional makeup artist, even if they just have a makeup tote in the back of their van. However, you deserve better than that for your wedding day. You need to hire a wedding makeup artist who works out of a legitimate physical location, complete with business cards and associated business credentials.

Along with that, a professional team will have developed an online reputation for always showing up on time and providing contracts to give you the peace of mind needed leading up to the big day. Professionals like us offer a trial makeup before the big event. This will allow you to see exactly what you and your bridesmaids will look like on your wedding day.

Time

One of the factors involved in answering how much is a wedding makeup artist is time. The more extensive the services, the more time involved. For instance, if you are having makeup done just for yourself, there will be a smaller bill than if you have service for the entire wedding party.

Also, if the makeup artist is going to do your hair or that of your bridesmaids, the cost will go up. However, in return, you have a continuity of presentation that will ensure your wedding photos look fantastic. At MBS Makeup, we can also do the hair and makeup for your mom, his mom or other special members of your party if you would like.

Travel-Related Expenses

The time of your makeup artist is precious, as it is with any profession. While you might not be charged for a visit to the studio or a nearby venue, the greater the distance, the more the compensation. Your makeup artist deserves more pay if they must travel to another city, state or even country.

With the popularity of destination weddings, this is a common expense that you should not overlook. In addition, if the artist must stay overnight, there could be additional financial needs related to lodging that are included in the overall package.

Add-Ons

As with a daily makeup application, you will pay more if you have additional needs in your makeup routine for the day. For instance, you might to have some hair extensions or combs added in to your look or that of your bridesmaids to ensure that everyone has the perfect frame for their faces.

For those with thinning or shorter lashes, false lashes can be a perfect way to ensure that your eyes “pop” for your wedding. Likewise, if you need other luxury items incorporated into your service, there will be charges related to the products and applications.

As you can see, answering the question “how much is a wedding makeup artist” is complicated. There is no one set fee. In fact, if someone gives you a flat quote without discussing all of these issues, you should be concerned. Professionals understand that the process of pricing is intricately intertwined with the services you receive.

However, most brides find that the expenses associated with having a real professional handle their makeup are far worth it. Instead of wasting your time worrying about the application process and trying to do it yourself or trusting a discount worker to do it for you, you deserve to have a pro handle your makeup needs.

Your wedding is one of the most special events of your life. You deserve the peace of mind associated with knowing that every aspect is being professionally taken care of. Just as you want the band to have experience and references, you need to know that your makeup artist is capable of handling your makeup needs. The right services can alleviate many of the pressures associated with your big day, allowing you to relax and enjoy joining your life with that of your beloved. The Benefits of Airbrush Makeup for Your Wedding

By | Wedding Makeup | No Comments

Your wedding is one of the most important events of your life and you need to look fabulous all day including in the pictures. While most brides start grabbing magazines filled with gorgeous dresses, few consider the importance of the right makeup until far later in the wedding planning. At MBS Makeup we provide both traditional makeup and airbrush makeup for weddings. If you are unsure of what works best for you, one of our team members can give you guidance to what is best for you. Here are some of the benefits of airbrush makeup.

On your special day you cannot afford to forget or even have time to think about what makeup you will use. Fortunately for you, our team at MBS Makeup are here to help! We have the expertise and training to ensure that you look exactly like you want throughout the day. Traditional Makeup

With traditional foundation, it can be difficult to achieve the right transition from face to neck and decolletage. With our airbrush makeup artists on your side, you can be ensured of a lovely, line-free transition so that nobody will be able to tell where your makeup starts or stops.

Flawless Finish

The process of using an airbrush to apply your makeup is preferred by celebrities for a good reason: you achieve a flawless finish that does not settle into your pores and fine facial lines. Even with the high quality cameras in use today, you will have a perfectly smooth look to your skin.

Lasts All Day and Night

While the actual ceremony only takes a small portion of your day, the celebration often lasts much longer. From photo shoots to celebratory drinks and dancing, you don’t want to worry about your makeup touch-ups during the party. Our airbrush makeup will give you the coverage you need, no matter how long you need to look flawless.

Time Saver

Not only will you save time on makeup touch-ups during the reception, but also on during your preparation. On your wedding day your time will be limited, lets us trim time off your preparation while at the same time making look your best. Since every member of our team is well-trained, you can rest assured that your application will be mistake-free and be quicker than a traditional makeup artist applications.

Coordinate with Bridesmaids

One of the biggest worries many brides have is how their bridesmaids are going to look on the wedding day. If your bridesmaids are doing their own makeup or having it done elsewhere, you never know how long they might take or if they will even arrive at time. At MBS Makeup we like to do do everyone together to ensure consistency, save time, and spend time with  your bridesmaids. We can also provide makeup services for all your bridesmaids, mother of the bride and other important guest at your wedding ceremony.

Whether or not you have a veil, we can do your hair at the same time as your makeup applications, ensuring that the looks complement each other. 10 Wedding Day Makeup Tips

By | Wedding Makeup | No Comments

Getting married is a joyous event that should be a day for the record books. Part of that is making sure that you look absolutely stunning when you walk down the aisle. If you are interested in doing your makeup yourself as opposed to hiring a professional makeup artist, here are some wedding day makeup tips you don’t want to miss.

1. Waterproof Mascara Is Essential

Even if you believe that you are not going to cry like a baby once you get married, wear waterproof mascara anyway. This will prevent streaks from running down your face and causing a real wedding day horror story. If you are one of those ladies who avoids this kind of mascara (like me) because it is heavier than the type you typically use, here is a little trick: Apply one coat of your normal brand, then follow that up with a very light coat of the waterproof type. This will offer the protection you are looking for without worrying about your lashes feeling like they are 15 pounds.

2. Create A Better You

One problem that brides face when doing their makeup for the big day is making themselves look beautiful while maintaining their sense of self. You should be focused on enhancing your best features, like your killer eyes and great cheekbones, instead of transforming yourself into an entirely different person. You don’t want to look at your wedding photos later and feel upset because you are barely recognizable.

I’m not a big fan of totally transforming yourself, and you should not be either. Focus on the great and make it look better than ever.

3. Weather Matters

When it comes to creating the perfect wedding day look, weather makes a huge difference. For example, if you are getting married on a tropical island on a day that is overly hot and humid, selecting makeup that will make you look dewy would not be a wise decision. In that case, you should choose waterproof makeup that will not run once you start sweating and a matte look that will downplay the moistness of the skin. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think it’d be fun to get married with my face looking like I just hopped out of the shower.

4. Practice Makes Perfect

This is the most important of all the wedding day makeup tips listed here. Even if you are one of those who touches up their look multiple times a day, you should still practice the look you are going for on the day of your wedding. Do not wait until you are an hour away from getting hitched to try the look for the first time. Not only should you practice, but you should do it so many times it starts to make you sick. This may seem extreme, but you want everything to be absolutely perfect when the day arrives.

5. Avoid Dense, Dark Eye Makeup

Many brides who choose to do their own makeup tend to try a more dramatic look than normal. It seems to typically involve placing dense, dark makeup on the eyes. Not only will this make you look like you are an extra in a rock video, but it can take away from the natural beauty of your eyes. It can also make people focus on your eyes so much that they don’t drink in the entire ensemble you have created.

6. Eye drops Are Essential

This is one of those wedding day makeup tips people don’t think about, but it is totally important. There have been times when I swear I am creating a killer look and I end up with red eyes afterward. You don’t want to appear to be crying, tired or anything other than thrilled to be getting married to the love of your life. This is why having eye drops around is a necessity, not a choice.

Oh yeah, use a brand that you are familiar with. You don’t want to use anything that may be irritating and make things any worse than they already are.

7. Test Your Makeup On Camera

Is it really possible to discuss wedding day makeup tips without any mention of cameras? The way that makeup appears when you are randomly walking around is not the same as it will be once you are under certain lighting conditions in front of a camera. You should always take a few shots outside and/or with the flash on to see how you look. If you notice anything wrong, you can make adjustments accordingly. If you hire a makeup artist, ask  to them about airbrush makeup and see if it would be a good benefit for you.

8. Body Makeup Is Key

When I apply makeup, I tend to focus on my body as well, especially if I am going to be showing a bit of skin. You should consider this point when you are deciding on the right look. One key issue some have is a face that looks perfect, yet it is the polar opposite of how the body looks. You should apply some makeup to your body to make sure that it complements your face instead of detracting from it.

9. Get A Cortisone Shot

It can be difficult to cover up acne blemishes, especially if this is not something you deal with on a regular basis. If you notice any huge pimples lurking on the sidelines, head to a dermatologist and have them give you a cortisone shot. This will shrink the offensive bugger and ensure you have no problems once the wedding day is here.

10. Hire A Pro

Unfortunately, some people will never be good with makeup, no matter how hard they try. Instead of settling for a less than glamorous look, call our Los Angeles wedding makeup professionals and make an appointment for a consultation. While this probably goes against the idea of being an economical Wonder Woman and creating a killer look on your own, it will guarantee things turn out perfect.

You do not want the day of your nuptials to be stuck in everyone’s mind because you did not look as stunning as you would have liked. In order to eliminate this outcome, remember all the advice you were offered.

‘Tis the Season to Ombre

By | Season Makeup | No Comments

(om·bré-in which the color is graduated from light to dark or dark to light)

I think we’ve all been a bit skeptical about the real world application of ombre lips, fear of looking like the girl whose lipliner was too dark or not filled in quite properly. But I’m going to share a few simple steps and the “must-have” products for this season to create the perfect red ombre lip, Rich berry edges with a bright cherry center.

Application and Technique::

This look works best if your lips are silky smooth and moisturized. First your going to want to exfoliate your lips try using some raw sugar mixed with a little bit of lip balm this will remove any dead skin and hydrate your lips creating the perfect canvas to start your ombre lip. My products of choice for prepping the lip are Fresh’s lip sugar scrub and “rosebud salve” lip balm.

Start of by lining outer corners of lip with lipliner the is the darkest shade we will be using I choose MAC cosmetic’s “Nightmoth” shade resembles a blackend plum, If this is your first time applying a darker lipliner don’t be afraid if at first it looks a bit goth we will be going over most of lipliner with lipstick. Once your outer corners of lip are lined we can now apply lipstick

Once your outer corners of lip are lined we can now apply lipstick I’ve chosen MAC’s “Ruby Woo” I picked this shade because it has more of blue undertone similar to a bright cherry red. The trick to creating this look is using a lip brush my favorite lip brush this season is from BITE cosmetics. Dip lip brush into Ruby-Woo lipstick filing in the entire lip area slightly going over lipliner, blending to perfection. If you feel that lipliner is no longer even on outer corners go ahead and re-apply liner over lipstick in the areas you feel as needed.

Our last step and what really pulls this look all together is lipgloss, I choose a gloss from Limecrime cosmetic’s called “Candy Apple” which is a deep ruby red with a light glitter reflects. Apply lipgloss in the center of the lip gently blending hues together into a soft wash. This will give your lips a three-dimensional effect and complete the perfect red ombre lip for this Holiday season.

Achieve that GLOW!

By | Skin | No Comments

Flawless, healthy, glowing skin is always in no matter what the season. I am constantly asked by my clients how to get “The J-Lo Glow”, or as I like to call it “The Glow From Within”. Though it’s not always easy to achieve this look, here is an easy-to-use makeup product that makes it effortless to have illuminating skin.

The Beauty Buy :: This lovely product is the Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer, a liquid multipurpose illuminizer. How does it works and why is it so amazing? Unlike most “illuminizing” makeup products that have too much shimmer or glitter particles, this product’s key ingredients are mica and iron oxides, which are both natural minerals. When grounded together, it turns into a super dense fine powder that adds a beautiful iridescent radiant shine without leaving your skin looking too shimmery. This product can be used on all ages and skin types, even someone with oily skin can wear this product and it will hold its place all day.

Application & Technique :: Since this product is sheer coverage and very lightweight, it is very versatile to use – it can be used as a base, mixed in with your favorite moisturizer, foundation or even as a highlighter dabbed along cheekbones and topped with blush for a healthy glowing illuminizing sheen. My tool of choice when using this product is a synthetic mixed fiber blending brush such as MAC Cosmetics #187 Short Duo Fiber Brush or Bdellium #965 Duo Fiber Brush.

Simply mix product of choice (i.e. moisturizer or foundation) with 2-3 pumps of Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer #2. L inightly buff both productsto skin and then apply blush of choice to apples of cheeks. If you like to set your makeup with powder, try using a translucent powder such as Make Up Forever’s HD Powder. This will set the makeup without covering up the illuminating agents in Giorgio Armani’s Fluid Sheer.
